Terms of Service

Last updated 14 October 2026

These terms cover your use of Vitals, made by Adam Thwaites. Using the app means accepting them.

What Vitals is, and is not

Vitals records what you eat and compares it against general daily reference intakes. It is a tool for noticing patterns.

Where the numbers come from, and what they are worth

Some figures are measured and some are estimated, and the app always says which. UK labelling law requires only energy, fat, saturates, carbohydrate, sugars, protein and salt, so most packaged foods declare nothing about vitamins or minerals at all.

Where a value is missing, Vitals may estimate it from the nearest entry in a public composition database, and marks the result as an estimate alongside the food it was matched to. Those estimates can be wrong, particularly where a product differs from the generic food it resembles.

Where neither a label nor a credible match exists, the app says it does not know rather than guessing. Nothing in the app should be treated as a laboratory measurement of what you personally ate.

Your account

You are responsible for the email address or sign-in account you use. Keep access to it, because it is how your diary is recovered.

Do not use the app to break the law, to interfere with the service, or to attempt access to anybody else’s information.

Subscriptions

Vitals requires a subscription. Payment is taken by Apple through your App Store account, and it renews automatically until cancelled.

Availability

The app is provided as it is. Features may change, and the service may be interrupted. Your records stay on your phone whatever happens to the service, and can be exported.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the app, including decisions made on the basis of the figures it shows. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Governing law, and how to reach us

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
